SPIER WINE FARM - STELLENBOSCH

Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa with a recorded history dating back to 1692. There’s plenty to do at Spier, whether you want to enjoy wholesome food, activities in the great outdoors, taste our award-winning wine or a picnic under shady trees, you can keep the whole family entertained and inspired at Spier.

Start your adventure with a visit to Eagle Encounters – a rehabilitation, conservation and eco-education zone at the Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. Here you and your little ones will be able to get up close and personal with our fine feathered friends. There are scheduled show times where you’ll be able to engage with and handle a wide range of furry, feathered, spiked, horned and scaled friends in the park.

Once you’ve had enough time with the wonderful animals on show, you’ll be able to stroll past the all-day craft market to the wine tasting room. While you taste wine, your kids will be doing some tasting of their own – a grape juice tasting with an educational activity sheet highlighting the role insects play in the vineyards.

Wine Tasting:

Enjoy lovely views of the Spier dam and Helderberg Mountains. Try our award-winning wines paired with delectable treats in our tasting room – then stock up at cellar door prices.

Take a walk:

Amble through the Spier farmstead and view our historic buildings including the 1822 Manor House and South Africa’s oldest dated freestanding wine cellar (1767). Or take a closer look at our Protea Garden and avenue of 230 indigenous coral trees.

Admire some art:

Spier has one of the most extensive contemporary South African art collections in the country, and a small selection is displayed in our public spaces. See more at the Manor House, Conference Centre, Hotel and wine tasting room.

Enjoy an a la carte brunch or lunch at the Restaurant, where all produce used is from the Spier farm or sourced from nearby farmers.

Grab a picnic:
